Discussions commence between Ranil and Modi
Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe who is on a three-day official visit to India has met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi this morning.
The two leaders met at the Hyderabad Palace in New Delhi.
Indian Premier Modi hosted lunch today for the Sri Lankan delegation including Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.
During the discussions, the leaders of the two countries are expected to focus on ways to further boost bilateral ties, and among other things on the vexing fishermen issue.
Prime Minister Wickramasinghe is scheduled to call on the President of India Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow.

Making his first overseas visit to India after assuming office last month for the fourth time, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi yesterday.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister was received at the airport by India's Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
During his three-day visit the Prime Minister is expected to meet with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi today and other Indian leaders and hold extensive discussions on a range of issues.
He will also meet the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and later in the day meet with the Prime Minister Modi at the Hyderabad House for bilateral discussions.
